In 2017, the Indian mobile industry witnessed hyper competition with the entry of Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited (Jio) that offered extremely low priced plans. This led to an explosion in the voice and data volume growth in India. Aggressive price plans including deeply discounted unlimited voice bundled data plans were offered by the existing operators to retain subscribers.
